Nanaimo Youth Services Association’s
Push for Change
In the spring of 2024, join with NYSA to Push for Change and help youth find a place to call home. Challenge yourself and feel the satisfaction of spending the day raising money for youth housing by pushing a grocery cart from one end of Nanaimo to the other.
Event Postponed
With regret, we must inform you that Nanaimo Youth Services Association has made the decision to cancel its Push for Change Nanaimo event scheduled for May 25th. Unfortunately, there are several logistical challenges that prevent us from holding the event as planned.
All participants who have donated will receive a full refund within the next 10 business days. In the event that we are able to reschedule the event, we will let everyone know by email, social media and our website.
We thank everyone for their support and commitment to Push for Change. Please contact Amy Worth at NYSA if you have any questions or concerns.
We have decided to put together another event in September, where supporters can raise money and spend the night outside in support of homeless youth. Further details on that event will be forthcoming shortly.

WHY PUSH FOR CHANGE?
Push for Change is an event focused on the homeless issue for youth in our community. The event is fully supported with first aid, transportation, rest stops and nutrition/hydration breaks along the route. We also are planning amazing social breaks at each stop and an exciting event atmosphere.
TEAMS
There’s nothing quite like experiencing a fun and challenging event with friends and family by your side. Luckily, anyone can join a team and feel the comradery, connection and community it brings. If you’re not part of a team, start your own, bringing your loved ones together and enhancing your overall Push for Change experience!
What Exactly is the Event?
NYSA’s Push for Change is a joint NYSA-Rotary event focused on bringing attention and financial support to the issue of youth homelessness. Teams of participants will walk from Nanaimo’s south end to the north end pushing shopping carts (the ubiquitous homelessness symbol) with the hope that the community will meet the walkers at one of the stops along the way to contribute refundable bottles and cans, and donations to NYSA’s housing centre.
Each Team will be made up of four walkers. Each walker can take a leg of the journey, or walk the entire distance. We will begin at South Parkway Plaza and stops will be made at Port Place, Brooks Landing, Country Club Centre, and Woodgrove Centre. At each stop, Rotary members will welcome the community to drop off donations of cash, refundable bottles and cans. Walkers will visit briefly with the public and there will be a short welcome to the teams. After a rest and rehydration, the walkers leave for their next stop.
Sorry, we're not ready!
Please check back after February 1, 2023 and we’ll be ready to provide you with all the support you need to succeed in the Push for Change!
